Mrs Lola M Rooney, retired from the Greater Philadelphia YMCA on January 4, 2019 after 28 yrs. Having served as the Director of the YMCA Family Child Care Network, Director of ECE & SACC Programs and finally as Senior Director of Child Care Compliance. She came to the YMCA after retiring from the School District of Philadelphia after having taught for 25 yrs.; ending as one of three founding teachers of a phenomenal Alternative Program known as GAMP – Girard Academic Music Program.
She represented her association YMCA and her field on city, regional, state and national forums around Child Care and Early Childhood Education. She was selected by the Y USA as one of 25 individuals across the country to serve in an advisory capacity to help the Y USA to strategize their response to community needs around service to families with Infants and Toddlers and currently remains in this capacity.
With the State of Pennsylvania she has served on the Advisory Council to the Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL), helped write the initial Early Learning Standards for Infants and Toddlers for the State of Pennsylvania and locally in Philadelphia, serves on the Mayor’s Advisory Council for Early Childhood Education and the United Way of SEPA ECE Advisory Committee She is responsible for the YMCA of Philadelphia & Vicinity, becoming a key partner with the School District of Philadelphia in its Pre-K initiative, and serves on the School District’s Pre-K Counts Advisory Committee. Additionally has served as a Grant Reviewer of Head Start Grants under the office of Administration of Children, Youth and Families (ACYF) in Washington, D.C.
She has served as an After school Ambassador for the State of Pennsylvania and spoke at the 2013 21st Century Conference with the theme “Leave the Lights On” for children. In 2017, she was featured by NAEYC in their Early Childhood Publication.
Mrs Rooney is currently serving as the President of BCDI Philadelphia & Vicinity, one of 25 affiliate chapters for NBCDI. She volunteers within her community: Cedar Park Neighbors where she is on the scholarship committee. Mrs Rooney is the Chairman of the Trustee Board of the Greater Community Bible Tabernacle Church and also leads the Praise & Worship team. She is a choral member of the 2 time Grammy award winning Rev Ernest Davis Jr’s. Wilmington-Chester Mass Choir; the choir recently celebrated 35 years in the music ministry. Mrs Rooney is the proud mother of 4, grandmother of 8, and an Ordained Minister of Greater Community Bible Tabernacle Church.

She is a native of Philadelphia and is highly respected by community leaders. Dr. Rice has served as a Professor of English as a Second Language, Vice Principal of an elementary school, director of educational programs, elementary teacher, and a community activist. Upon successful completion of her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Dr. Rice decided to continue her studies in education, and later attained a master’s in Education with an emphasis on Multicultural Education, and a doctorate in Educational Leadership. Currently, she is completing a doctoral program in Marriage and Family Therapy. Dr. Rice also holds a Master of Theological Studies and has a gift of empowering youth, women, and leaders toward transformational change. Dr. Rice has also attained instructional certificates from the Pennsylvania Department of Education for Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Special Education, English as a Second Language, and English.

Her prior employment experience included positions of Program Manager for Early Care Education and After-School Programs under the Center for Youth Development, both at United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania. Although retired, she continues to work as an Educational Consultant for Discovery Toys. Mason has over 30 years of experience in program management including development and implementation. In addition to her service commitment to BCDI, Phyllis is an active volunteer at George Washington Carver Community Center and is the founding President of Mt. Zion Community Tennis Association.

Lynnette is a caring and passionate professional who always gives one hundred percent of herself. She worked in the Health Care Profession as a Behavior Specialist at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and in the field of Child Welfare as a Resource Foster Family Recruiter. Lynnette also prepared Child and Family Adoption Profiles for children waiting for permanent homes. She especially enjoyed Training; Consulting and Facilitating Groups for Parents and running Social Skills Groups for Children using animation, such as puppetry.

He is currently a curriculum supervisor for English/Language Arts for the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District, located in Chester County. His experience in education has also included work with notable institutions such as Fellowship Farm, the YMCA, the NBCDI, and local faith-based organizations, as well as programs including the Philadelphia Writing Project. He strives to use his experiences as a teacher and leader in order to provide continued edification for young people. He attends The Family Church of New Jersey under the leadership of pastors Ted and Dawn Winsley. A native Philadelphian, he continues to reside there with his wife and four children.

She served as a Superior Author on the Delaware Journal of Corporate Law; a Competing Member on the Moot Court Honor Society; a Member of the Transactional Law Honor Society; and a Competing Member on the Moe Levine Trial Team. Socially, she served as President of the Black Law Students Association to drive diverse initiatives across social and educational needs, and served on the Student Bar Association’s Budget Committee to assure that diverse student associations were awarded the funds to continue efficient programming. After graduating, she clerked for the New Jersey Superior Court with the Honorable Terrence R. Cook, Presiding Judge of the Criminal Division for the Burlington County Vicinage. Since then, she has worked with a small firm (medical malpractice defense work), where she served as Founding Co-Chair of the Diversity Committee; a mid-sized firm (products liability and commercial litigation work); and a large firm, Greenberg Traurig, LLP (employment law, commercial litigation, and medical device manufacturer defense work). Adesola currently works as an Assistant General Counsel with PECO, an Exelon Company, where she represents the Company before state and federal regulatory agencies to accomplish diverse business objectives. Within the community, Adesola is an Adjunct Instructor within Temple University’s Fox School of Business, and she serves as a Board Member on both The Legal Intelligencer’s Young Lawyers Editorial Board and the Board of Directors for The Arc of New Jersey, Middlesex County.
